The  Affordable Care Act directs the HHS Secretary to “establish a national strategy to improve the delivery of health care services, patient health outcomes, and population health.”  One of the priorities is to support effective communication and coordination of care. Registered nurses are able to bridge the gap between care and access and to coordinate increasingly complex care for a wide range of patients.

Acknowledge RN Contributions and Pay for Care Coordination

The American Nurses Association is leading the way through a number of initiatives to bring attention to nurses’ essential role in care coordination and to demand payment for these essential services as a distinct component of patient care.
