As part of our mission and goals, the Delaware Nurses Association advocates for nurses in Delaware by:

  • Educating legislators about the profession of nursing and their role in the delivery of quality and affordable healthcare
  • Protecting the Nurse Practice Act
  • Supporting the interest of healthcare consumers and all Delaware nurses in the state and national arenas

On June 14, 2018, DNA learned that a bill is scheduled to be introduced on Monday, June 18, 2018 (no bill number as of yet) called Share the Care. The bill creates two areas of potential liability for nurses for the acts of unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs). Specifically for those working in a hospice program and those working in a home health agency. Please read the letter sent to the bill sponsors and to AARP, initiator of the bill. Contact your legislators and urge them to oppose this bill in its current form.

DNA support Delaware Senate Bill 199 which mandates improved insurance coverage for primary care services delivered by practitioners in the areas of family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and psychiatrics. Please read DNA support letter sent to the legislators of the Delaware General Assembly. Contact your legislators and urge them to support this bill.
